Double Glazed Screens
Double glazed systems offer improved aesthetics coupled with better acoustics.
DOUBLE GLAZED SCREENS
Double-Glazed Profile: Strength & Style
Our 68mm and 100mm wide aluminium profiles offers high strength in a lightweight design. At 68mm it’s our smallest double-glazed section offering a minimalist look coupled with optimum strength and acoustic rating up to 45dB with the 100mm section offering up to 52dB. Working with toughened and laminated glass it offers very good acoustic properties and can be finished in Satin Aluminium, Brushed Stainless Steel effect or any RAL colour. As with our single glazed system this is readily available off the shelf in RAL 9005 Matt black for when a quick installation is required. With the addition of 25mm or 30mm wide Georgian flat bars bonded to the inner and outer glass surface of one of the glass skins the result is a striking appearance which can be personalised to create different pane sizes. Double glazed systems can be combined with both single glazed or fully bonded double-glazed doors where the Georgian bar is encased within the glass unit and not applied to the outside.
Acoustics
All of our double-glazed partitioning systems are designed to work with 10mm and 12mm toughened safety glass which offer good acoustic performances. We also offer 10.8mm and 12.8mm laminated glass for an improved acoustic rating. Our 100mm wide profile offers improved acoustics coupled with a more solid appearance. You can combine a mix of toughened and laminated glass screens enabling you to meet various noise restriction requirements whilst keeping the aesthetics consistent and not adding cost where it’s not necessary.
INTER PANEL GLAZING JOINTS
Glass partition screens appear frameless with dry joint inserts. These have better appearance than silicone joints and enable the system to be dismantled or reconfigured with minimal disturbance. Installation time is also improved which benefits cost. Our single and double glazed systems can both be installed using dry joint technology. For single glazed systems the flat aluminium painted bars are adhered to both sides of the glass where the panels meet so the glass joints are not visible. For double glazed systems the bars are applied to only one skin of glass so the second skin has visible dry joints. The bars can be applied to either the outer or inner glass skin depending on the customers wish. With Fire rated systems the glass panel joints require a ceramic fire tape to the centre with intumescent mastic capping to each face. This conforms to the fire rating required and glass thickness used but is then covered by the aluminium flat bars to each side so becomes invisible.
MANIFESTATION
The minimum DDA requirement for commercial glazing is 2 levels of manifestation between 850-1000mm and 1400-1600mm from the floor. With these steel look systems the applied bars negate the need for this as they already provide a visible barrier, however, in addition to adhering vertical and horizontal bars we can also add manifestation for privacy where its required. In the main, most schemes are divided in height into 3 or 4 equal panels with one or possibly two rows having etched or reeded manifestation when needed.
